Days Until Calculator

Days until = target date minus today, counted in whole calendar days.

Your result will appear here. Enter values and calculate.

Pick the date you are counting down to

Choose a target date and the calculator counts whole days from today on your device. Nothing else is needed, because the starting point is always the current date where you are.

Past dates are allowed. Pick one and the count flips to how many days ago it was, which works for anniversaries and on-this-day checks.

How to read the countdown

The main number is full calendar days remaining. An event tomorrow shows 1 day, and an event today shows today rather than zero, because the day has already arrived.

Underneath you get the weekday of the target, the same count grouped into weeks and days, and a business-day total for deadline planning.

What counts as a day here

The calculator counts midnights between now and the target. Clock time is ignored on purpose: at 11 pm tonight and at 7 am tomorrow, an event on Friday is the same number of days away.

That matches how people talk about countdowns, but it differs from hour-based timers on event sites, which can show a smaller number late in the evening.

Counting to July 4

From June 11, July 4 is 23 days away. The rest of June contributes 19 days and July adds 4 more. Grouped, that reads as 3 weeks and 2 days.

The business-day line counts only Monday through Friday in that span, which is what matters when the date is a filing deadline rather than a party.

Business days and holidays

Business days here mean weekdays. Public holidays stay in the count because they differ by country, state and even industry. If the deadline is official, subtract the holidays your jurisdiction observes.

For contract and court deadlines, the counting rule itself can be defined in the document. The calendar math is the start, not the final word.

Days Until Calculator FAQ

Does the countdown include today?

No. The count is whole days still to pass, so an event tomorrow shows 1 and an event today shows today.

Why do I see a different number than my friend?

The count starts from the date on each device. If your friend is across the date line, their today may already be your tomorrow.

How accurate is the business-day count?

It counts Mondays through Fridays exactly and leaves public holidays in. For official deadlines, check which holidays your jurisdiction skips and subtract them.

Can I count the days since a past event?

Yes. Choosing a past date turns the result into days ago, counted the same way.

Does the calculator handle leap years?

Yes. The count uses real calendar dates, so February 29 is included automatically whenever the span crosses one.
